Margaritaville Biloxi Opens…Fins Up!
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Casino & Restaurant Biloxi held its Grand Opening to the public on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The completed $62 million venture opened to rave reviews bringing a flavor of the tropics to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The successful event surpassed expectations seeing over 20,000 guests through its doors and more than 5,000 margaritas served in the first 24 hours of operation.
Jimmy Buffett performed for nearly one hour; welcoming over 4,000 VIP guests to his newest endeavor, before opening the casino to the public at 8 pm. Throughout the event, Buffett shared his own tales of Biloxi and his connections to the Coast.
With hopes of Margaritaville ushering in a new future for the Gulf Coast, Larry Gregory, director of the Mississippi Casino Operators Association said, "The world is watching Biloxi today. We want good, top brands coming in here to better the Coast." In fact, the world was listening to Biloxi as Buffett’s concert was broadcast live over Radio Margaritaville, Buffett’s Sirius/XM satellite radio station, to fans nationwide.
As Margaritaville Casino Biloxi made its debut, employees were ready to welcome guests with the easiest player’s club registration system in the industry; PlayerSoft Technologies’ Mobile Enrollment system. The system allows casino staff to enroll new guests in the casino’s player’s club anywhere on the casino floor utilizing a specialized device. “We’re excited to begin our customer relationships with the ease and convenience of Playersoft’s mobile enrollment platform. We believe in the system so much we’ve eliminated a player’s club booth location,” says Jerome Fremin, Director of Slot Operations. “We’re the first casino to take the booth directly to the customer. It’s going to create better customer relationships by removing the traditional booth location and allow employees to interact with customers on the floor, where the customer is comfortable and wants to be. No “booth barrier”, no waiting in line.”
John Hairston, a member of the Mississippi Gaming Commission stated the casino was exactly as hoped and, “there’s nothing else like it.” Even Game Commissioner Nolen Canon added, “It is so Biloxi.” Indeed, Margaritaville is one of a kind, offering unique experiences to all guests.
